The AMA Education System Student Loan Program, in cooperation with AMA Bank, is financing an arrangement whereby parents of qualified AMA students can cumulatively draw up to a maximum of ninety percent of the school fees from a loan facility for every school period until the student graduates.

An applicant must be a parent or legal guardian of a qualified, regular student of any AMA Education System school.

Maximum Loanable Amount
An applicant, subject to the schedule of loan availed and depending on the course of study, can draw up to a cumulative amount as follows:
Engineering Courses – PhP300,000
Non-Engineering Courses – PhP250,000

Depending on the student’s year level, the maximum term of payment is a total of ten (10) years from the time of the first loan availment.

The loan payment shall be made through postdated checks and renewable every school period while still on study and every year after graduation.

In case the student-grantee stops for any reason, the portion of the loan (inclusive of interest) until his last day of attendance shall be immediately due and demandable.
Any loan grantee who drops out or defer his study at any AMA school branch shall pay all his outstanding loan balance plus all accrued interest from the date of drop-out or deferment.

Required Documents/Forms
Original Fully Accomplished Application for Financial Aid
Colored 2×2 Identification Photographs of Applicants and Parents/Legal Guardians/Spouse (with printed name and signature)

The Subsidized Tuition Fee (STF) Program of AMA Education System is implemented to provide financial assistance to academically qualified Filipino students who otherwise would be financially unable to enroll at an AMA Education System member institution.

The innovative nature of this student assistance program is hinged on its three key characteristics:

Social-Equity
The program applies a proportional tuition fee rate where lower-income groups enjoy subsidies.

Tuition Affordability
The program makes the cost of a premier AMA education comparable to ordinary schools without sacrificing quality.

Partial Scholarship
The program in spirit is a scholarship grant that partially funds students whose academic qualifications and standings are acceptable but fall short for full academic scholarship.
The Subsidized Tuition Fee program is a student assistance arrangement whereby qualified students will enjoy tuition fee reduction of fifty percent based on socio-economic status of their respective families.

The STF Program has two basic components, to wit:

Subsidized Education for every qualified AMA student regardless of financial capacity, considering that tuition and other fees paid is much less than the direct cost of education in AMA.

Subsidy on Total Fees. AMA grants fifty percent subsidy covering tuition and other fees based on the capacity to pay by and financial need of the student.

The STF Program is limited by the grant allotted by the AMA Education System to the AMA Foundation for this program, thus a strict selection of qualified beneficiaries shall be undertaken to ensure its most prudent use.

Objective
The program aims to widen the opportunity among students from socio-economically disadvantaged families to enter, attain and enjoy an AMA education, thus resulting in tremendous benefits for low-income and disadvantaged students and their families.

Target Beneficiaries
The target beneficiaries of the STF Program are not those students who excel academically and who can qualify for regular scholarships but those passing “average” students who wants to pursue college but cannot fully afford to do so because of economic difficulty.

STF applicants who are enjoying scholarships from any source are disqualified from the subsidized tuition fee program. It is the desire of the AMA Foundation to focus the access to the program to those individuals who are not yet benefiting from any form of scholarships.

Relative to this, there is no separate examination for the STF Program of the AMA Foundation. The same entrance examination currently being used by the AMACC Branches is enough for the purposes of the AMA Foundation.

The STF program shall be limited to incoming freshmen and new transferees only.

Application Period
The application for the STF Program shall be open before the start of every school term and shall have the following cut-off dates:
School Term Months of Coverage Annual Cut-Off Dates
First Trimester May-August On or before 1 May
Second Trimester Sept-Dec On or before 1 Sept
Third Trimester Jan-April On or before 1 Jan
All applications for the Subsidized Tuition Fee program received after the cut-off dates shall be processed and entered for the following school term. As an illustration, an application received on 2 May shall be included for processing for the Second Trimester; while an application received on 2 January shall be processed for the First Trimester.

Qualification of Beneficiaries
The applicants for the Subsidized Tuition Fee Program must meet the following qualifications:

Accepted Student – An applicant must pass the qualifying entrance examination at any AMA Education System school. Any application for student assistance is subject to acceptance into an AMA branch. Applicants, therefore, should wait for their admission to AMA before submitting a scholarship application.

Submission – Applicants must submit all required forms and documents, as follows:
• Original Fully Accomplished Application for Financial Aid
• Initial Subsidy Processing Fee (PhP500 – Non-refundable)
• Colored 2×2 Identification Photographs of Parents/Legal Guardians of Applicant (with printed name and signature on photograph)
• Colored 2×2 Identification Photographs of Applicant (with printed name and signature on photograph)
• Original copy of parents’ Certificate of Employment from current employer indicating: compensation last day of employment, length of service
• Photocopy of Income Tax Return (ITR) For 1st-time applicants ITR for the last three years, including attachments

Mechanics of the Program
Maximum Subsidy – A qualified applicant, subject to review of his/her socio-economic status, shall enjoy a tuition subsidy of fifty percent.

Application of Subsidy – The subsidy rate shall be applied to the basic tuition fee and other school fees.

Qualified applicants, based on their family’s socio-economic status, shall be given discounts of fifty percent on all fees.

This program is based on both financial need and academic performance, thus student-beneficiary shall be required to maintain passing marks on all subjects.

After deducting the tuition subsidy, student-beneficiaries must pay the remaining portion of their assessed school fees either in cash or within the maximum allowed installments under the regular schedule of payment of school fees.

Dropping-Out. The standard AMA policy on dropping will apply on the subsidized portion of the tuition fee of the student-beneficiaries of this program.

Renewal Requirement – The grant is given for a specific school period only and is renewable every Trimester or Semester.

The grant may be renewed upon evaluation of the student’s continued financial need and satisfactory academic performance. The grantees are required to meet certain academic standards and to abide by the policies prescribed by the AMA.

The subsidy shall be renewed every school period based on the following:
a) true copy of grades, without any failing marks, from the last school term attended;
b) STF Renewal Administrative Fee (PhP250) – non-refundable; and
c) re-submission of proof of socio-economic status (if needed);

Return-Service Requirement – The AMA Foundation, Inc. and the AMA Education System reserves the right to require (or otherwise) the student beneficiaries of this program to undertake volunteer work with and/or be hired as a paid employee of the Foundation or the school, anytime beginning their second term.

One-Sibling/One-Family Beneficiary. Financial assistance can be given to only one grantee per family. Applicants with sibling(s) currently enjoying or have enjoyed financial aid in the past are automatically WAIT-listed for any form of assistance.

Implementing Officers
The AMAES schools shall have the initial responsibility to identify potential student-beneficiaries of the program.

The AMA Corporate Office and the AMA Foundation shall have the final decision on the number of beneficiaries and the level of their subsidies.

The Selection Committee, at the AMAES branch level, vested to identify qualified applicants for the Flexible Subsidy Program, shall be composed of the following:
Chair – School Director, AMA Branch – Final Selection

Members
- Registrar – Initial Selection
- Accounting Director – Recommendatory
- Dean of Student Affairs – Recommendatory
The STF Committee, vested with the authority to grant the Tuition Subsidy, shall be composed of the following:

Chairman – Chairman, AMA Education System – Final Approval

Members
- First Vice President, AMAES Finance – First Approval
- Executive Director, AMA Foundation – Recommending Approval

Agriculture students who don’t have enough money to pursue a college education have a chance to earn and study at the same time at the college of agriculture at the Visayas State University in Baybay City, Leyte.

A new program initiated by VSU and East-West Seed Company will enable them to finish college under a novel scholarship scheme. Under the scheme, the students will be allocated farm lots on the campus where they will grow high-value vegetables which will be sold to restaurants (including the school canteen), supermarkets, and to the general public.
The proponents of the project strongly believe the program will succeed. The students will undergo rigid training on all the aspects of successful vegetables production such as the use of hybrid seeds, seedling tray to produce seedlings, plastic mulch for year-round production, proper fertilization, pest and disease control, harvesting and postharvest handling, marketing and other aspects of the business. East-West Seed experts will provide complete training on the production of such crops as hybrid tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, cucumber, squash, ampalaya, sitao, snap bean and many others.

The students in the VSU-East-West Scholarship Program will have hand-on experience in vegetable production which they can use to great advantage after schooling.

As developments in information technology continue to transform the world’s digital landscape everyday, the education divide is also being breached.

Education, as we know it, is now in the process of evolving from the traditional classroom-confined, teacher-student face to face method to the more flexible and learner-centered mode of technology-enhanced web-based learning. This is e-Learning.
e-Learning, or electronic learning, is the unifying term used to describe the fields of online learning, web-based training and technology delivered instruction.

AMA Education System, the Philippines leading education provider in information technology, has long been equipped with the technology and know-how to empower students with highly interactive multi-media programs thereby making the delivery of quality education more efficient.

What are the benefits of E-learning?

E-Learning creates engaging learning opportunities through the use of multimedia facilities which act as catalysts for authentic and relevant learning experiences.
Through AMA’s e-Learning program, 20,000 students are allowed to engage in collaborative learning. They are made members of an online community where close interaction and dynamic exchange of ideas are encouraged through chat groups, message boards and e-mail facilities.

Students in different campuses across the country can easily communicate and enjoy a dynamic exchange of information and ideas. A student from Davao, for instance, can relate local political issues in Davao to students in Metro Manila, thereby enriching the discussion on the course Politics and Governance.

Course content for each subject is uniform for all AMA campuses across the country. This assures students that the high standards of AMA education is uniformly delivered and received by students regardless of their geographical location, thus overcoming the barriers of distance and creating a system-wide virtual class.

The program also enables AMA students to access environments, tools and resources – including fellow e-Learners – at their own pace, in their own time and from wherever an internet-enabled computer might be. This will empower students and make them responsible for their own e-learning experience.

AMA’s e-Learning program is powered by Intralearn, a leading US-based designer and supplier of learning management systems (LMS).

Intralearn is the Internet platform being used by AMAES to facilitate e-Learning. Through AMA’s e-Learning platform, online access for all AMA students is assured – anytime and anywhere. With AMA e-Learning’s dynamic delivery system, students can access educational and learning materials that they can explore even at home, in a friend’s house, or even within the comforts of an internet café. It hosts a wide collection of interactive and informative courses developed by industry and academic experts who comprise AMA’s Academic Affairs Deparment.

Through Intralearn, instructors author and upload course contents, quizzes, projects, cases, examinations and even the syllabus, all of which are available for students to download. Students can also take on-line quizzes and examinations, submit projects, case analysis and other requirements through the same platform. Communication with the online faculty and fellow e-learners via chat, message board and e-mail facilities is also made easier and more convenient.

The learning environment of the 21st century will be a wall-less, networked online learning community. It will be an environment where reliable, high bandwidth networks allow the “school” to become more than a physical location, and recreates the school as a “stimulating learning hub”.

With the many possibilities and potentials of e-Learning, complemented by AMA’s formidable infrastructure and the commitment to provide the most effective learning experience, students are encouraged to participate and interact as members of one big online learning community, empowered, well-skilled and highly employable.

If you are a fresh high school graduate or if you are employed but ready for a career change, underemployed, or unemployed with or without experience, and willing to undergo training, here is your chance to build a promising career.
